Delegation from China

Study tour for the Chinese Ministry of Housing

In cooperation with the German-Chinese KABEE programme on the Qualification of Key Actors for Climate Protection in the Building Energy Efficiency Sector of GIZ in Beijing and financed by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), Connective Cities is conceptualising and organising an expert information tour for the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MoHURD) in Berlin and the Munich region on the topic of “Energy Efficiency in the City”.

A mixture of theoretical presentations on policy design and inspections of successful practical examples based on them to demonstrate local implementation will await the 21 delegates. At the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety, for example, the foundations for climate friendly urban development in Germany will be explained to the visitors. Drawing on this, the urban redevelopment area of Falkenhagener Feld in Spandau is to demonstrate the implementation of an integrated refurbishment strategy that is now being supported by the national funding programme “Energetic Urban Redevelopment: Making use of potentials at district level!”

In Bavaria, the thematic focus is on cooperation projects on the implementation of integrated climate protection strategies and energy efficiency in the city and the region. Visits to municipal departments are on the agenda in order to get to know innovative instruments such as the employment of climate protection managers. A working group of the Association of the European Metropolitan Region of Munich will explain how a region on the way to setting an example of climate protection is operating in networks and acting sustainably.

With the compilation of the programme, Connective Cities is presenting a model for an expert studies tour that can also be offered to other partners in international cooperation in the future.
