Network in South-East Europe

Our network

Connective Cities Network South East Europe is active in the countries of the Western Balkans (WB) and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) and supports local actors and urban practitioners in developing locally adapted solutions for sustainable urban development using international expertise. Actors in the network come from a diverse institutional landscape, such as donor-supported local projects, regional associations and networks, national associations, private sector companies, city administrations and public enterprises, national authorities.

Through the network, members will:

  1. Design local frameworks for ecological, social and economic urban development
  2. Strengthen municipal actors as development actors
  3. Place people at the center of urban development
  4. Make cities resource-efficient and climate-friendly
  5. Learn from each other and jointly develop solutions for current challenges

Our focus

Two learning processes are planned in the South Eastern Europe network, which will be implemented in the current phase of the project (2019 - 2022):

  1. Integrated urban development (important general trends: demographic, economic, urban development and governance, and climate change)
  2. Renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Learning and peer-to-peer exchanges are fostered through a guided project development process along the following methodology: identification and call for themes, dialogue event, local project workshop, expert missions, financial advisory support, and virtual support.

Urban practitioners from South-East Europe can build a strong support network with peers from Germany and across the region, stimulating innovation and roll-out of cutting-edge urban solutions that can contribute to advancing the sustainable development of their communities.
