The digital kick-off event of the working group "Resilience in times of war" facilitated an exchange between a total of 62 municipal experts from Ukraine and Germany. It marks the beginning of future cooperation in support of local projects for the reconstruction of Ukrainian municipalities.

Since 2019, the team of the Urban Planning Department of Greater Amman in Jordan has been involved in an international dialogue process on sustainable urban planning, facilitated by Connective Cities. In August 2022, an 11-member strong delegation traveled to Germany to conclude this process. Along the way, the delegation visited Münster, Dortmund, Cologne and Frankfurt/ Main. Glezan municipality in Algeria is strategically located at the center of the country, serving as a linkage between the eastern and western part as well as the northern and southern parts. In this interview, the representative of the municipality, Mr. Ismain ben Mohammad, describes the municipality’s achievements in promoting energy efficiency and solar energy.

Municipal experts from Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, Kenya and Zambia will gather in Amman to focus on prototyping ideas and solutions for cooler cities. This workshop is the second step in a learning process that kicked off last year, during which the participating municipalities identified key factors that impact ongoing climate action projects.

With a focus on gender equity and climate change adaptation measures, the overall goal of the learning process is to develop solutions for urban flood management.
