Connective Cities
INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT
NEWSLETTER - EDITION No. 58, March 2023

Dear Readers,

Limiting global warming and adapting to the impacts of climate change poses new challenges for all municipalities. However, this also creates new scope for innovation, cooperation and social change. We will show some of these here as examples.

For this year, the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation awarded its prize to the cross-border youth project #paminafürsklima. A project of Ukrainian-German cooperation between the city of Lutsk and the district of Lippe for the use of intelligent technologies in public transport received a special prize.
In the Mozambican coastal city of Quelimane, a reforested mangrove forest now protects against extreme weather events, and during the Connective Cities dialogue event "Water Sensitive Urban Planning", more than 40 experts exchanged ideas on how to mitigate risks from heavy rain and storm water events for people and for municipal infrastructure in their cities, generating many new ideas for their concrete projects.

We would also like to cordially invite you to our upcoming two technical events: On improved cooperation between science and city administrations, as well as on renewable energies, including green hydrogen and energy security.

Get inspired and join us!
