Dear Readers,
In this issue we look back on a fruitful exchange of experiences with a delegation from the Urban Planning Department of the Greater Amman Municipality here in Germany and on the development successes of the Jordanian municipality of Madaba.
We also showcased experiences of how the Corona pandemic has strengthened solidarity and cooperation among local communities, both within a municipality, as in the Serbian city of Mionica, and across countries, exemplified by the partnership between the Italian city of Brescia and Darmstadt.
The new project phase of Connective Cities has now begun, and we would like to invite you to the first events: On 13 October, Connective Cities will be represented at the UCLG World Congress in Daejon, South Korea. Where the topic of "Flood Risk Management and the Importance of Municipal Preparedness Measures" will be the main focus of our workshop and supported by exchanging ideas with international experts. And from 6 to 8 December 2022, we are planning a dialogue event on the topic of "Water-sensitive urban development" together with the Municipal Drainage Operation of the city of Cologne in Germany (StEB Cologne), - a topic that is becoming increasingly pressing every year in view of climate change.
Should your municipality be involved and active in cross-border cooperation on climate protection and climate adaptation measures, we highly recommend considering an application for the Municipal Policy Award of the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation 2023.
We wish you an inspiring reading
Your Connective Cities Team
