Flood risk management and the importance of municipal preparedness

Connective Cities goes UCLG World Congress 2022 - Breaking Through as One in Daejeon!

We proudly announce that Connective Cities is taking part at this years the World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders, convened by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), in Daejeon/ Republic of Korea.

The UCLG World Congress is the largest gathering of mayors and councillors, presidents of associations, partners, and local and regional practitioners and leaders from around the world to build resilient, peaceful, and sustainable communities.

That is why we are we are very pleased to herewith invite you to our event on Thursday, 13th October from 14:00 - 15:30 KST, on the theme "Flood risk management and the importance of municipal preparedness" at the Local4Action track of the UCLG Congress. The event is being organised together with the Global Initiative on Disaster Risk Management (GIZ).

Organization, management, and coordination with a wide variety of actors are of great importance for ensuring sustainable and efficient municipal flood management, especially with the background of frequently occurring extreme weather events. The session’s objective is to give the participants an insight into good practice examples from Durban/ South Africa, Ca Mau/ Vietnam, and Cologne/ Germany in the field of flood prevention, protection, and management. By providing substantial insights on the conceptual framework of risk informed urban development and highlighting the social and institutional aspects of disaster risk reduction, the session aims to create a common learning and peer-to-peer exchange.

We will be very happy to meet you at the UCLG World Congress! The final Congress Program will be uploaded shortly.

For those who will not be able to join us in person - follow our social media channels to stay up to date during our participation at the UCLG Congress!
