Connective Cities
INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT
Special edition: new Connective Cities regional networks

Dear readers,

the work and exchange in our new regional networks in the MENA region, Southeastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa is gaining momentum. After intensive, rather informal preparatory work over the past 12 months, the regional networks are now formally constituted. With great commitment, they are each developing a charter and a roadmap for further cooperation. To mark the occasion, we have therefore decided to publish a short special edition of our newsletter providing information on the status quo, planned activities and the underlying concept of the new networks in the Connective Cities focus regions.

We hope to win over further experts for a peer- to- peer consultation on concrete project ideas.

Review
A successful start of the Connective Cities Regional Network Southeast Europe and Caucasus
Review of the network's launch event on 26 April 2021 an the first follow up activities

Since the successful launch of the SEE regional Network on 26th of April 2021, participants have maintained contact with the Connective Cities team by attending other events offered by the project. The roadmap developed for the network’s future plans and actions has been disseminated among the participants to generate their feedback on what topics they might want to hear more about or what events they would like to participate in. Meanwhile the charter, also put together specifically for the network to determine its sustainable co-operation with the members, is being amended with insights gathered from members during the working group discussions at the launch event. After a short summer break, extensive continuation of work is envisaged in the upcoming months up until December of 2021.

CONNECTIVE CITIES - CONCEPT FOR REGIONAL NETWORKS IN MENA, SOUTHEASTERN EUROPE AND SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA
MUNICIPAL ACTORS CONNECT WORLDWIDE

The Connective Cities regional networks enhance sustainable urban development through exchange, peer-to-peer consultation and development of new project ideas.

How was the idea of the regional networks developed? Where are the regional networks located? What is the goal of the Connective Cities regional networks? Who can participate in the regional networks? What are the benefits for the members of the regional network? How can interested practitioners enrol? What are the rights and duties the networks members?

Our concept note provides the answers to all these questions. [pdf-file]
