Official Launch of the Connective Cities Network in Sub-Saharan Africa

Kick-off event on July 14th, 2021: Together for sustainable urban development

Since July 2019, Connective Cities events have brought together different stakeholders in Sub-Saharan Africa. Among them are representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society, and research institutions. They are united by their focus on sustainable urban development. The trip now brings us to the official launch of our regional network, whose main objective is to provide a platform for urban practitioners from cities and municipalities in the region to develop locally adapted solutions for sustainable urban development, drawing on regional and international expertise.

As part of the preparations, various thematic working groups have been established, focusing   on land information systems, solid waste management, climate change and climate-proof urban development, local economic development, and sanitation and wastewater management. Currently, the groups are working on their common Terms of References, which they will present during the network's launch event. In addition to an update on the most recent activities in each group, there will be a panel discussion on current challenges in the region and the value of networks in finding solutions for these. Celebrate the official launch of the network with us!
