Dear readers,
this issue focuses on people and social cohesion at the local level. We look back at a three-day workshop on gender-sensitive urban development in the MENA region, a discussion on forms of citizen participation and cooperative urban development at the Mannheim Urban Development Symposium, and a virtual session on the special role of spontaneous helpers in disaster events.
And as always, we'll also provide some deeper insights: how Dresden and Brazzaville are promoting urban gardening and learning from each other in the process, how Kotor in Montenegro is reaching out to the LGBTQIA+ community and benefiting itself in the process, and how municipalities in Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine, and Kenya are planning concrete actions for "cool" cities and relying on citizen participation as well.
We would be delighted to see your participation in our upcoming events which include Our side event at the African Climate Summit 2023, on "Flood Protection and Municipal Preparedness", or our next virtual workshop on "Supporting Economic Resilience of Ukrainian Municipalities", which promotes the municipal exchange between Germany and Ukraine. For all those who are interested in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level, we recommend an interactive and practice-oriented workshop in September on the topic.
Get inspired and join us!
