NEWSLETTER - EDITION No. 41, September 2021
Dear readers,
Citizen participation and disaster risk reduction, climate resilience and nature-based solutions, digitalisation and digital inclusion, health protection through vaccination campaigns and targeted inclusion of vulnerable groups, low-emission mobility concepts, financing and implementation of innovative energy efficiency projects, as well as the promotion of social entrepreneurship - none of these topics are specific approaches to addressing the COVID 19 pandemic. However, the challenges of the pandemic meant that many projects that were already planned were tackled with new elements and, in addition, many new project ideas were developed.
This is shown by the large number of different events and good practices in this issue of our newsletter. The pandemic has promoted even more: Despite the initial isolation of many states, cities have shown international cross-border solidarity also in times of crisis. We will also dedicate an event to this topic.
We look forward to continuing this intensive exchange of expertise and to supporting municipalities in making their communities more resilient, socially just and climate-friendly through concrete projects.

Female power at the Insight Session on digital literacy
The rapid digitalization process during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the exclusion of large segments of the population who either lack digital literacy skills or do not have access to the hardware to participate. Examples that things can be different were shown in three presentations, all given by women - a good sign that the once purely male-dominated IT industry is slowly opening up, and people of all genders can contribute their innovative ideas.
