Dear Readers,
Social, economic, and climate-friendly urban development are the trio of themes, underpinning our July newsletter. We look back at the workshop in Djerba, where municipal climate protection projects were elaborated for four Tunisian municipalities; at an innovative e-mobility approach in Lviv, which is being pursued and was even presented at ECCA 2023 despite all the turmoil of war in Ukraine; and at a tourism promotion strategy in Aley, Lebanon, which aims to boost the socio-economic development of the municipality.
Good practices from Kotor and Podgorica (Montenegro), Ljubljana (Slovenia), and Cologne provide deeper insights on how a city can protect the basic human rights of sexual minorities. We also learn about a new triangular cooperation between the cities of Karlsruhe, Kampala and Strasbourg to promote social entrepreneurship.
Our upcoming events, to which we cordially invite you, will focus on "green" urban development: A virtual session on the biodiversity of Urban Green Islands as well as two kick-off events on renewable energies at the municipal level in Africa and in the region of Southeast Europe / Caucasus.
We wish you an exciting and informative reading.
