Connective Cities
NEWSLETTER - EDITION No. 31, Mai 2020

Dear Readers,

A more climate-friendly urban development is one of our current priorities. Now the Corona pandemic has emerged. Some parallels can be seen here: Climate change and the virus are only indirectly visible through the damage they cause. And neither stops at national borders. Both phenomena are new for living humanity. It is not possible to fall back on past experience and well-established routines. To mitigate the consequences, in both cases solidarity-based and locally coordinated responses and more intensive cooperation are indispensable - at the level of urban districts, at the municipal, national and global level.

Cities and municipalities are already pioneers in mitigating and adapting to climate change. Disease control and urban planning have always been closely linked historically and will be even more so in the future. In order not to lose too much time, we have also adapted to the new circumstances and, with a spirit of experimentation, have transformed our planning workshop in Latin America, our exchange of experts for city associations, several bilateral expert consultations and our dialogue event in Southeast Europe/Caucasus on climate-friendly urban development into innovative learning journeys. During asynchronous and synchronous workshops you will become familiar with digital tools, methods and the way of thinking Design Thinking and will be able to participate in collegial exchange formats about the vision of a climate-friendly "post-corona city".

Our dialogue event "Asset Management for the Optimization of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure" will now take place - presumably as a face-to-face event - at the end of November/beginning of December in Hamburg.

In addition, Connective Cities is organising two virtual workshops on 15 June as part of the German-Turkish town twinning conference on the subject of digitisation and integrated urban development.
Further events are planned in Germany Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and the MENA region. We will inform you about them soon on our website and in the next issue of this newsletter.

Looking forward to a good exchange
