Dear readers,
"Sustainable urban development during and after the COVID-19 pandemic" could be a headline for our work this year and for this newsletter too.
We look back on a successful official launch of the Connective Cities Sub-Saharan Africa Network, as well as on virtual peer-to-peer consultations on municipal responses to COVID-19 in the areas of health, governance, crisis management and digitalisation. A small group of municipal experts in Southeast Europe is currently working intensively on the implementation of new mobility concepts with our support, and the Connective Cities COVID-19 programme 2021 is continuing with the event series "Insight Sessions: Post-COVID Urban Futures".
In this newsletter we also provide concrete insights into successful projects in the area of climate protection, energy-efficient building refurbishment and new urban mobility concepts based on four good practices from Southeast Europe and the MENA region. In addition, we highlight successful strategies for improving public health during the pandemic and areas where there are still open challenges.
Finally, in the second half of the year, we would like to cordially invite the urban practitioners of our Community of Practice to an in-depth municipal experience exchange as part of our Connective Cities COVID-19 programme, which will focus on the (further) development of (project) initiatives.
We hope you enjoy reading the newsletter. Stay healthy!
Your Connective Cities Team
