1st German Congress of Women, "More Women Need the City",

A signal from the German Association of Towns and Municipalities to increase the proportion of women in the municipal parliaments and in management functions of the administrations.

Very few women are currently represented in the councils of German cities and municipalities. Not even every tenth mayor position in Germany is filled by a woman. This situation does not represent a good perspective for the future development of cities and municipalities.With the 1st German Congress of Women, "More Women Need the City", the German Association of Towns and Municipalities together with partners is sending an important signal for further efforts to increase the proportion of women in the municipal parliaments, but also in the management functions of the administrations.
