10:00 to 12:00: COVID-19 - A chance for urban green recovery?

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, cycling and walking proved to be resilient and healthy means of transport and the importance of accessible green spaces has never been more pertinent as in times when everybody stayed at home. People and cities have adapted their behaviour to slow down the spread of the corona virus. Is this the starting point for a sustainable transformation towards a green urban recovery with more parks, open spaces, bike lanes and pedestrian infrastructure?

Our speakers:

  • Jamie Shields & Paola Pasino, Development and Renewal Services, Glasgow City Council, UK
  • Ms Maritza Hernández Solís, Minister of the Environment of the City of Mexico
  • Martina Frühwirth, Department of Architecture and Urban Development, City of Vienna, Austria

Moderation: Elke Schimmel and Dr. Kristian Kampfer
