Municipalities and their COVID-19 Response to Local Economic Development

This session will provide an opportunity for local authorities to share their experiences on the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many local businesses are threatened with closure. The multiplier effect of such closures is manifold. The reduction of tax revenues and fees for local governments puts urban households in a difficult situation.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • The role of cities in local economic development during COVID -19 and good practices
  • Short and medium term actions and the way forward
  • How can digitalisation be used to meet the challenges?
