Refugee Integration and Promoting Social Cohesion

Call for participation in the practitioner dialogue and workshop with German and Turkish municipalities to strengthen municipal know-how.

In the framework of the "Municipal Know-how Initiative for Refugee Hosting Municipalities in the Middle East" and in cooperation with the Qudra-Programme and UCLG-MEWA, Connective Cities organises an Urban Practitioner Workshop on "Options for Refugee Integration and Promoting Social Cohesion" in Istanbul from 08 to 10 November.

The aim of this event is to offer a constructive dialogue platform for interactive knowledge exchange, exchange of best practices and collegial learning to further develop local strategies and projects.

The exchange of experiences and knowledge during the workshop will allow a reflection on the role of municipalities in the integration of refugees. These include aspects to expand  community services for both, refugees and the local community, but also the promotion of social interaction within communities, as well as the coordination with other authorities of the state system to support, for example, extra-curricular education and measures to integrate refugees into the labour market. The international workshop on social cohesion therefore offers an appropriate format to facilitate municipal exchange and to develop innovative local project strategies.

A total of 15 Turkish municipalities as well as 5 - 10 German municipal experts are invited as participants.
