In response to the exacerbated impacts of climate change in urban areas, municipalities and local governments are challenged with devising strategies and implementing effective measures to mitigate the impacts and adapt to urbanization-induced warming.

Against this background, this Connective Cities learning process provides the participating experts and municipal representatives the opportunity to address urbanization-induced warming through an integrated approach. The focus will be on climate mitigation through carbon reduction in building stock, improving outdoor thermal comfort by optimizing urban forms, and the overarching practices governing municipal action for the reduction of carbon emissions in building stock and improving outdoor thermal comfort.

This virtual kickoff event will be the first step of the joint learning and knowledge exchange process, followed by face-to-face regional workshops in March 2023, as well as working group discussions of solutions and testing throughout the following three months after that.

The working language of the event will be English and Arabic with translations provided.
