Application: Award of the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation

Award for municipal governance of the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation: Honoring outstanding achievements of municipal governance and administration in Europe

In memory of his municipal governance work of Carl Goerdeler as the Lord Mayor of the City of Leipzig as well as his opposition to the Nazi-Regime, Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation has established since 2015 an annual practice-oriented “Award for municipal governance of the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation” to recognize outstanding practical achievements of municipal administrations in Europe.

The award is aimed on honoring a community or region of the German-speaking area, which closely cooperates with another European partnering community or region to bring sustainable positive impact on local life and contribute to strengthening of the European idea.

The cooperation of communities or regions should demonstrate tangible effects in one of the following realms: strengthening of local democracy, enhancing of service provision, modernizing of public administration, strengthening of economic power or promoting of European integration.

Application is open until the 15th of August, 2017
