Since 2014, the competition  “Municipality moves the World” (“Kommune bewegt Welt”) has been conducted by the Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW) of Engagement Global on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The aim is to recognize municipalities that are committed to municipal development policy in an exemplary and comprehensive manner, while also pursuing paths that have an impact and inspire others.

All cities, municipalities and districts in Germany are invited to enter the competition by submitting their development policy profile via this application platform until 31 May 2024. The participation is equally worthwhile for both small and large municipalities, as the awards (between 10.000 and 30.000 Euro per municipality) will be presented in various size categories, along with special prizes.

The winning municipalities will be announced at the 16th Federal Conference of Municipal Development Policy (Bundeskonferenz der Kommunalen Entwicklungspolitik) from 8 to 10 October 2024 in Ingelheim am Rhein. During this event, the prizes will be awarded in a ceremonial setting.

All relevant information – including the application process in the online application platform – can be found on the SKEW Website. The Service Agency looks forward to receiving your application by 31 May 2024!
