Following the <link record:tx_ggnews_events:tx_ggnews_domain_model_news:828>Connective Cities Dialogue event on municipal service provision and approaches for participative management in Harare, Zimbabwe, which will take place from 20 to 22 August,  Connective Cities is planning and organising a study tour to Germany for Zimbabwean urban practitioners. The study tour on the topic "Demand-oriented provision of municipal services" will take place from 18 to 22 November 2019. It is intended to include visits to municipal service providers and the German Association of Cities.

The aim of the study tour is to show practical examples from the work of municipal service companies in the sectors of water, mobility and solid waste management and to stimulate discussions on strengthening such services in Zimbabwe. On the other hand, the trip facilitates networking between Zimbabwean and German municipal practitioners and serves to develop project ideas that can be implemented in municipalities. Participants will also get to know the structure and functioning of German city associations and their tasks in relation to the member municipalities. They will gain insights through visits and discussions that support their own role and responsibility as well as their motivation to become "change agents" in Zimbabwe.

Connective Cities organises this study tour in cooperation with the GIZ project "Strengthening the Zimbabwean Association of Cities and Towns UCAZ to promote intercommunal knowledge transfer and capacity development of member cities" in Zimbabwe. With this programme, Connective Cities repeats a model for a study tour that has already been offered to other international cooperation partners.
