In 2016 the German Association of Local Utilities (VKU), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and other partners organized a workshop on the development policy commitment of municipal companies. Since then, the activities of municipal companies in development cooperation as wells as the political dialogue about the framework conditions of these activities increased.

On Thursday, 06.07.2017 Connective Cities is organizing a second workshop in collaboration with VKU in Berlin. The objective of this workshop is to exchange experiences gained so far with regard to the development policy commitment of municipal companies in different regions and sectors, to inform about opportunities of engagement and to discuss possible challenges.

Already active municipal companies report on their experiences and draw a first interim balance. Interested companies will be informed about support opportunities and strategies for long-term commitment and possible challenges.
