The International Community of Practice for Sustainable Urban Development Connective Cities is organising a study tour of 11 experts from the Municipality of Greater Amman (Jordan) to various German municipalities. The Jordanian delegation consist of engineers and urban planners from the Comprehensive Planning Department, Building Licensing Department and Zoning Department. They will exchange with German experts and benefit from the experiences of German cities through analysing their good practices. The trip is thus a continuation of the intensive exchange process that has been going on for one and a half years and is intended to provide inspiration and impetus in the development of a sustainable land use plan for an undeveloped area in Amman.

During the period from 14 August 2022 to 20 August 2022, they will visit the cities of Münster, Dortmund, Cologne and Frankfurt. There, they will have the opportunity to talk to the project managers directly on site about areas that are currently being planned or built on, as well as to examine recently completed projects. Of particular interest are the latest sustainability and social standards in land use planning and the underlying management system within German municipalities. There will also be an exchange on different participatory processes from the planning phase of a project onwards. Through this exchange, German municipalities will also benefit, and networks will be established.

The Connective Cities team is pleased that, in addition to the virtual exchange formats, mutual expert visits are now also possible.
