Within the ambit of the learning process on municipal energy efficiency project in the MENA region, a virtual event on financing municipal energy efficiency projects was held on September 13, 2021. The virtual event included three insightful presentations and a lively discussion with the participants. The Readiness and Preparatory Support Program by the Global Climate fund (GCF) was presented by Dražen Kučan (Sector Lead / Senior Urban and Energy Efficiency Specialist at GCF). Meanwhile, Dr. Wafa Abusamra (Head of international project division in Cities and Villages Development Bank- CVDB) presented  financing modalities and funding mechanisms for the energy efficiency projects of the municipalities provided by the bank, including the the EUR 45 million EIB loan provided to the CVDB in October last year. A final presentation by Deepak Adhikary (Chief Executive Officer- Frontline Development Solutions) focused on how municipalities can prepare themselves in writing a funding proposal.

Municipalities interested in receiving funding via the CVDB, GCF- PPF, and the CIP by IRENA will be supported in preparing their project proposals. Furthermore, this event was followed by the municipal energy efficiency projects workshop held on the 14 and 15 of September 2021.
