In May 2022, the U7 Mayors Summit adopted the U7 Mayors' Declaration. It calls on national governments to involve the municipal level more closely in shaping international commitments. Only by doing so, the ambitious goals can be implemented jointly.

The event Cooperative Climate Action - Municipal Policies from G7 to COP27 supports the declaration and focuses on the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement. The event aims to demonstrate the potential of cooperation between governmental levels and various groups of stakeholders and thus shape a message for the COP 27 in November 2022.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in cooperation with the Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW) of Engagement Global (EG) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, cordially invites local decision makers, practitioners from local governments, civil society, academia / think tanks, and policy makers to participate in this exchange.

Together, the various roles of stakeholders will be examined and municipal practices in the field of climate adaptation and climate protection at different stages of the planning and implementation processes will be presented. As a result, specific needs for support and possible solutions arising from the cooperation will be identified.

The virtual exchange will take place on October 5, 2022, 14:00 - 16:00 CEST. Registration: https://events-mc.com/de/cooperative-climate-action/registration/
The event will be followed by a virtual get-together with the panelists (16:00 - 17:00 CEST).
