The international Community of Practice Connective Cities is looking for German municipal actors and experts who are interested in a deeper professional exchange with Turkish communities on the subject of "integration of refugees and social cohesion".

Therefore, Connective Cities organizes a two-day study tour as well as a subsequent two-day project workshop in Germany within the framework of the Municipal know-how for host communities in the Middle East Programme.

The event interfaces with a dialogue event in Istanbul from November 8-10, 2018 organized by GIZ Qudra, UCLG-MEWA and Connective Cities. In the course of the event, German and Turkish municipal practitioners exchanged technical knowledge and developed project ideas. Selected Turkish municipalities are now being invited to Germany to present their project ideas and, together with German local representatives, continue to work on the specification and possible implementation. Also the development of new project ideas is possible.

Thematic priorities are expected to be the following:

• Integration management in Germany and Turkey

• Improvement of the municipal offer for language courses

• Integration into the labor market through VET

• Temporary refugee accommodation

• Neighborhood centers

• Design of a training and integration center

The event is expected to take place the week of February 11-15, 2019. The location and exact date are agreed in consultation with the German and Turkish participating municipalities.
