In the last three years, the world has faced over-stretching and devastating events including the Covid-19 pandemic, war and climate related events like drought and floods. These events have interfered with the business-as-usual food supply systems. The urban areas largely depend on the rural and peri-urban areas for the supply of food. Availability of land and supporting services, economic status of the urban dwellers and knowledge required for food production are some of the factors determining access to food in the urban areas.

To dive deeper into the topic, Connective Cities is organizing an insight session on 27 July 2022 from 13:00 – 15:00 (CEST), in which experts will share insights from research or practice and in a subsequent session, cities will share good practices on urban agriculture.

You can register here to join this insight session on “Urban Food Security During Crisis” as well as become a member of the working groups of the Sub-Saharan Africa network here. The agenda will be shared on the registration platform and the event will be in English.
