Cool and climate-neutral cities are collaborative

How inclusive, transdisciplinary and integrated approaches can drive urban climate adaptation and mitigation. Connective Cities co-organises the 95th Cairo Climate Talks.

Held within the in the framework of the Cairo Climate Talks at the Goethe Institute in Cairo, this session will bring together city officials, representatives from civil society, and businesses from Germany and Egypt to discuss strategies for embedding climate change and climate neutrality as critical challenges for everyone in our cities. By discussing concrete real-life examples from cities, such as current initiatives in municipalities to develop comprehensive strategies to address urban heat islands or to engage broader society through Climate City Contracts. The session will emphasize essential elements of heat action plans and showcase how city planners can overcome challenges by using inclusive, interdisciplinary, and participatory approaches. Furthermore, the session investigates the experiences from the Egyptian and German local contexts in which local actors are navigating a multitude of interconnected aspects of designing and implementing climate action projects, with an overarching goal of meeting the needs of the local community and building resilience against climate change impacts and becoming climate neutral.
