From the 7th to the 9th of November a local Project workshop takes place in Trujillo, Peru on the subject of sustainable mobility and public transport. Approximately 25 municipal actors from Trujillo and representatives of other city administrations of Peru, Latin America and Germany will compare notes about challenges and experiences to selected questions about public transportation in Trujillo and support the enhancement of the ideas and plans of the reform of the public transportation of Trujillo.
The institutional frame of the public transportation is one of the central challenges in Trujillo. The most important actors are the responsible ministry as an adjusting national authority, the decentralized municipal institution and the private operators of bus enterprises. The challenge for the improvement of the public transportation in this public-private multinational-actor context is the optimization of the regulation and supervision of the public transportation, the reorganization of the railway network and the development of a common rate system besides concurrent support of the sustainability of the transport system.
Connective Cities offers with this Workshop a forum for reflection of the acute challenges as well as the possibility to get to know experienced solutions of other cities. At the same time, present or potential attempts should be included within the scope of other projects of the German development cooperation. Within the interactive exchange, with cooperative consultation and by common planning, project ideas for future activities are developed.
This Connective Cities Workshop with the international and national intercommunal exchange complements the available offer other plans of the bilateral German cooperation with Peru and the province of Trujillo. The new focus of the German bilateral cooperation will be the Topic of sustainable urban development.
