Reducing energy consumption down to 50% realistic target or fairy tale?

Local experiences and international exchange in the context of CoP23

In the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference (Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, 23rd Conference of the Parties, COP 23) the City of Freiburg, the City of Hannover, the City of Cape Town, GIZ, Engagement Global / Service Agency Communities in One World and Connective Cities hosted a side event on Friday, 10.11.2017.

The session on “Reducing energy consumption down to 50% realistic target or fairy tale? Local experiences and international exchange” tackled both the contribution of the local level to reducing energy consumption and the potential of peer learning between cities. Three cities shared their very own strategies and experiences in this field. This local action can benefit a lot from peer learning among cities on an international level. Partnership programs and expert networks facilitated this exchange.

The aim of the interactive panel and discussion was the exchange of experience and networking on the contribution of cities to the reduction of energy consumption. In the event the local experiences were presented and the value of peer learning and municipal partnerships was shown.
