Africa is rapidly urbanizing, and this is manifested in the growth of its megacities as well as that of its smaller towns and cities. In many places, urbanisation occurs without regulation, resulting in unplanned neighbourhoods and provisional infrastructure and at the expense of the environment. Municipalities are now struggling to manage this development process. Urban land and the way it is accessed, used and controlled is key to sustainable urban development with safe, inclusive, green and quality public spaces.

The project workshop is a follow-up event to the dialogue event held virtually in May 2021. The dialogue event brought together municipal urban practitioners to present and discuss good practices and develop new project ideas through peer learning. The project workshop aims to further develop six of these project ideas. Connective Cities will support them by providing peer-to-peer advice, training on proposal writing and financial advice on how to access potential funding sources and meet their eligibility requirements. These services are complemented, if needed, by advice from German experts and exchange with peers who have implemented similar projects.

Professionals who could not attend the dialogue event are also cordially invited.

Time: 19.10., 21.10. and 26.10.2021 // 10:00 - 13:00 CEST

Format: virtual event

Conference languages: English and French
