Cities IPCC Conference

The conference intends to “foster new scientific knowledge for cities based on science, practice and policy” and to “provide inputs to the products of the IPCC”

The first Cities and Climate Change Science Conference, also referred to as Cities IPCC is accepting proposals for sessions and individual papers until Oct 6. The conference is scheduled for 5-7 March, 2018 in Edmonton, Canada. It intends to “foster new scientific knowledge for cities based on science, practice and policy” and to “provide inputs to the products of the IPCC”.

This may be a good opportunity for IAUC members with research interests related to cities and climate change to showcase their work before a multidisciplinary audience and the IPCC and to develop collaborations in advance of ICUC-10.

The conference themes are:

  • Urban emissions, impacts and vulnerabilities (Science and practice of cities)
  • Cities & climate change (Imperatives for action);
  • Solutions for the transition to low carbon and climate resilient cities (Science and practice for cities);
  • Enabling transformative climate action in cities (advancing science and advancing cities)

Session proposals are expected to have a knowledge exchange or co-generation component among the scientific community and practitioner / policy-maker community.
