The premier gathering of local and regional governments at COP23 is the Climate Summit of Local and Regional Leaders on 12 November 2017, with more than 1000 delegates, including 270+ political leaders.
It is the jumping off point for strategic initiatives and partnerships that support implementation of the Paris Agreement, demonstrating that when cities, regions, businesses, communities and all levels of government join forces, it makes climate action stronger and more effective.
The Summit takes place right in the middle of a full two-week program for local and regional governments at the Cities & Regions Pavilion, the home base for local and regional governments at COP, and is the flagship event of the Summit Dialogues, a stretch of heightened activity featuring meetings, events and interactions with negotiators that will help shape and deliver messages to nations and key climate stakeholders.
