Connective Cities at the Africities Summit 2018

Connective Cities takes part in the summit as exhibitor to strengthen networks among experts of urban development in Africa.

Africities is the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa’s flagship pan-African event that is held every three years in one of the five regions of Africa to mobilise communities and local authorities in African countries, as well as financial institutions, civil society groups and development partners at continental and international level. The summit thereby aims to address major questions based on the construction of the 2063 Vision of Africa with debate proposed by the African Union Commission.

This year, from November 20-24, 2018, the 8th Edition of the Africities Summit will be hosted in Marrakech, with over 5.000 participants. The latter will represent all the stakeholders of African local life as well as their partners from other regions of the world: practitioners in charge of local governments; housing and urban development; public service delivery; local authorities and local elected officials; officials of local and central government administrations; civil society organisations, associations and trade unions; economic operators of the public and private sectors as well as of the social/ shared economy; traditional rulers; researchers and academics and international cooperation agencies.

Together with 400 – 500 exhibitors, Connective Cities takes part in the summit’s exhibition to strengthen networks and enhance the exchange of experience among experts of urban development in Africa. Thereby, Connective cities aims to identify areas of interest for future dialogue and learning processes in the next phase of Connective Cities beginning in April 2019 as well as new partners for co-operation in the areas of Good Urban Governance, Integrated Urban Development, Local Economic Development and Municipal Services in African cities.
