Issues of resource deficiency and affordability as well as excessive waste persist all around the world. The upcoming webinar will introduce the concept of urban mining as one possible sustainable approach to urban resource management. Urban mining can be understood as the process of reclaiming compounds and elements from products, buildings and waste, otherwise left to decompose in landfills.

We are happy to have to have Federico Magalini, Research Associate at the United Nations University Institute for Environemnt and Human Security, and Seth Munyambu, Manager at WEEE Centre Nairobi, present to us on urban mining. The webinar will focus on material recovery from electronic products, discuss its advantages and the future of urban mining in Africa.
