Field of activity
The Project Capacity Development of Municipalities (CD-Mun) is led by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) and is commissioned by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). CD-Mun is aligned with the multi donor Local Governance and Community Development Programme in its second phase (LGCDP II). The project aims at capacitating municipalities to implement the impending reforms of the municipal governance framework (territorial, functional, political) with a particular focus on service delivery and access of disadvantaged groups. In this context the project brings together and supports the national key institutions to offer demand-oriented capacity development services at a significantly increased scale. A second focus of the project is to strengthen the capacities of selected partner municipalities towards implementing the municipal reforms in a service- and citizen- oriented manner and according to the principle of "leave no one behind". The project will contribute to the improvement of municipal services which are linked to the portfolio of Nepal - German Development Cooperation (health, renewable energy, economic development, reconstruction and disaster resilience). The project follows a multilevel approach, linking the key actors and institutions at national, regional and local level.
