RE-Energising Cities: Renewable Energy in Urban Settings

RE-energising Cities Forum will held on the second day of the UN Habitat III Conference in Quito, Ecuador

"The governments of Ecuador, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates, and the International Renewable Energy Agency are pleased to invite you to attend ‘RE-energising Cities: Renewable Energy in Urban Settings’ forum.
As the first intergovernmental conference on cities and human settlements in 20 years, Habitat III will reinvigorate the global commitment to sustainable development at the local and subnational levels through the New Urban Agenda. Within this context and for the first time ever, the Habitat process recognizes the proliferation of renewable energy as a critical commitment, and means to implement action towards this end.

RE-energising Cities will capitalise on this unique gathering of stakeholders to drive the next step-change in the transition to a sustainable urban energy future. The business case for renewables is stronger than ever thanks to ongoing, dramatic cost declines in renewable energy technology. The forum will showcase the innovative and transformative ways that cities can benefit from this trend and contribute to the ongoing energy transition. It will share cutting-edge information, highlight examples of successful policy frameworks and other best practice, and discuss priority areas for action to capitalise on the opportunities renewables present in three key sectors: transport, buildings and power generation."
